WHO Global Conference on NCDs: Statement by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says intensified action is needed to respond to the global epidemics of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), primarily heart and lung diseases, cancers and diabetes. The 18-20 October 2017 WHO Global Conference on NCDs in Uruguay will focus on ensuring government policies are geared to promoting health and preventing and treating NCDs, and to support achievement of Sustainable Development Goal target 3.4 to reduce premature deaths from NCDs by one-third by 2030.
