Marikana Residents Call on Authorities to Deploy Soldiers Following Mass Shootings

Residents of the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi on the Cape Flats, are urging authorities to deploy soldiers to the crime-ridden area.  The community is living in fear, following the gunning down of 10 people in one night last week. At least 20 others have been murdered since last month.  Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula visited the community today and conceded that the police service has been infiltrated by criminals.
