Leaders across Africa have spoken out in support of African Development Bank (AfDB) President Adesina Akinwunmi, whose candidacy for a second term has received widespread backing. A May 22 letter from U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin demanded an investigation into ethics allegations that had already been investigated and found "baseless and unsubstantiated" by a committee on the Board of Directors. Nobel Prize Laurete Professor Wole Soyinka calls the U.S Treasury's demand and America's position on the matter "totally untenable."
