Tournament co-organizers with Gabon, Equatorial Guinea also known as Nzaleng Nacional is making a maiden appearance at the continental tournament. Though ranked number 150 on the Fifa classification, the team took full advantage of its home support to reach the quarter-finals before losing against powerhouse Cote d'Ivoire.
