The Mozambican government plans to step up compulsory evacuation for flood-threatened villagers who have refused to leave their homes despite the risks they face. Two more deaths from flooding were meanwhile reported after a tropical depression hit the northern province of Nampula, bringing the total number of known fatalities this year to 77, AFP reported. Silvano Langa, the head of the country's disaster management agency told a media briefing on Friday: "The government will have to intensify compulsory evacuation because it is the duty of the state to safeguard lives of its citizens."
