Maputo, Mozambique — Five people are reported missing after a rowing boat in which they were crossing the Supinho river in the Nicoadala district in the Mozambican central province of Zambezia was hit bad rough tides, Radio Mozambique said.
Reporting the tragedy Monday, the radio did not specify when the accident occurred, but said the victims included two teachers and one local shopkeeper.
It said so far, only some of the victims' belongings such as shoes, and pieces of their luggage had been found.
Small rowing boats are used for transport between Nicoadala and Macuse, because roads and bridges in the areas have been damaged by torrential rains and flooding.
