Mozambique: Adb Approves 500,000 Dollars for Mozambique Flood Victims

Dakar, Senegal — The African Development Bank (ADB) Monday approved a grant of 500,000 US dollars to finance the humanitarian emergency relief support for the victims of the floods that affected in Mozambique.

The ADB said the grant is to alleviate the suffering of the victims of the floods in Zambezi, Tete, Manica and Sofala provinces. Displaced populations from the affected areas are living in temporary accommodations in the flooded areas of the four provinces.

The Bank's contribution will be used to provide the necessary drugs and supplies for the prevention and control of malaria, cholera and other water-borne diarrhoeal diseases.

Bank Group operations in Mozambique started in 1977, and to date, it has committed a total of 881.63 million dollars on 49 operations in which about 495.56 million dollars have been disbursed.
