Lesotho has drawn Mozambique in the COSAFA Cup 2002 edition preliminary knock out match to be played at the Setsoto stadium on March 31 next year.
For the first time Likoena will take on the Mambas in the regional lucrative competition. The two sides last met in the four nations tournament staged at the Maseru earlier this year. The Crocodiles were edged out of the Cosafa competition by Zambia's Chipolopolo who cruised to a 2-1 victory in pulsating match on June 24.
The two sides (Lesotho and Mozambique) have been engaging in roller coaster matches since they met in the African Nations Cup preliminary round last year. They drew both legs and went on to penalty kicks where Likoena came out victorious.
Likoena have played only two COSAFA matches away from home. The home side crushed 2-1 away to Zimbabwe's Warriors in last year's edition and bounced back as lucky losers where they went all the way to the finals only to meet a humiliating 6-0 defeat in the two legged final against Zimbabwe, who won the cup for the first time.
The first match for the next edition will take place between Madagascar and Mauritius on February 23. Botswana host South Africa on March 16 in Gaborone. The two sides have not made any notable impact in the competition. They both lost to Malawi in different stages in the last edition won by Angola last Sunday.
Angola scored just three minutes to full time to take home the cup they won once in 1999. Swaziland entertain Namibia in Manzini on April 4.
The winners in the preliminaries and one lucky best losers will join Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi in the quarterfinals.
