Washington, DC — The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) announced the appointment of Hubert O. Nwokolo to act as CCAs Oil and Gas Advisor. Mr. Nwokolo will also assume the role of Director of Human Resources.
Before Joining CCA, Mr. Nwokolo served as General Manager Community Development for Shell Nigeria. His 30 year career with Shell focused on the oil and gas upstream business, community development and social responsibility. Mr. Nwokolo also received a Shell scholarship, which he used to obtain his Mechanical Engineering degree from Leicester University in the U.K. in 1973.
CCA President and CEO Stephen Hayes praised Mr. Nwokolo as an important addition to CCA. "Not only does he bring further senior leadership and experience to CCA, especially in an important economic sector, his community relations experience allows us to serve our own staff more fully as well. We are grateful to Shell Oil Company for its significant contribution to the Corporate Council on Africa."
Mr. Nwokolos work has been primarily based in Nigeria. In addition, he spent 15 months as Production Operations Engineer at Shells headquarters in The Hague. He also worked at Shell Norway from 1992-1996, serving as Chief Production Engineer until 1994 when he was promoted to Technical Manager. He continued in this position until his return to Nigeria in 1996, where he was appointed to the post of Operations Manager for the Eastern Division.
His commitment to excellence and fervent work ethic lead to his promotion to the position of General Manager Community Development reporting to the Director of External Relations; his responsibilities included managing the companys community development efforts for the entire Niger Delta. He held this position until 2003 when he came to CCAs offices.
Mr. Nwokolo is married with four children.
