Cote d'Ivoire: ADB Reduces Insecurity Alert Level in Abidjan

Tunis — The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group have lowered the Bank Group's insecurity alert level in Abidjan from Phase IV to Phase III.

The decision was taken at the Fourth six-monthly assessment of the situation in Côte d'Ivoire.

However, the reduction of the insecurity level, which follows the 6 April peace agreement signed in Pretoria by Ivorian politicians, is restricted to Abidjan and does not affect other parts of the country.

The UN brought down the insecurity level from Phase IV to Phase III in January 2005 after calm returned in most parts of Abidjan.
