press release

Ecobank Nigeria has once again made the Western Union International's Top Teams Club 500 listing. This feat ranks Ecobank Nigeria amongst the best 500 Western Union Agent locations worldwide in terms of service excellence and transaction growth for the third time in a row.

According to Western Union, Ecobank locations have made giant strides in attaining service excellence and customer satisfaction. In the latest Western Union Top Team Newsletter, Hikmet Ersek, Executive Vice President and Managing Director in charge of Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia, congratulated Ecobank and encouraged it to keep steering toward sustaining its success trail in 2007. Hikmet Ersek lauded Ecobank's achievements as lending credence to Ecobank's unique service pedigree in the West and Central African Countries where it currently has 18 country subsidiaries.

This is further complemented by Ecobank's historical role as the gateway to West and Central African markets as well as enabling the people of the region to depend on the unequalled service delivery for which the group is known.

This latest recognition of Ecobank Nigeria coincides with Western Union's commendation of other Ecobank locations in Benin Republic, Ghana, Mali, Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso for being outstanding in customer service delivery in the year 2006.

With over 138 locations, Ecobank operates as one of the major Western Union direct service Agents in Nigeria. Ecobank's service delivery emphasizes security and reliability on all transactions with the customer in order to avoid fraud and has touched the lives of Nigerians by connecting family members outside and within the country through the exchange of funds.

Ecobank joined Western Union as an Agent in early December 2003. Western Union is a leading provider of global money transfer services, with a history of pioneering service dating over 135 years. For Western Union, helping people and businesses transfer money or make payments is a continuous lifeline operation. Its Agents (including Ecobank) operate in over 1900 locations across Nigeria.
