AfDB and Guinea Bissau Sign Grant Agreement

Guinea Bissau's Economy Minister and AfDB Governor, Maria Hélena Nosoline Embalo, and the AfDB Senegal Field office Resident Representative, Mohamed H'Midouche, on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, in Bissau, signed a grant agreement on a government capacity building support project (PARCA).

The new AfDB-financed project in the areas of education and training aims at strengthening the achievements of past projects. It will contribute towards improving professional training conditions and quality as well as modernizing and strengthening capacities within economic and financial bodies.

During the signing ceremony, Ms. Embalo thanked the ADF Board of Directors, AfDB President Donald Kaberuka and Bank staff for the new financial support. Mr. H'Midouche reiterated the Bank Group's support to Guinea Bissau's social and economic development. The signing ceremony was attended by several senior government officials and representatives of international organisations in the presence of the coordinator of AfDB National Programme Office Coordinator.
