Sierra Leone: Koroma Committed to Fight Against Narcotics - Diplomats

12 January 2011

American diplomats in Sierra Leone praised President Ernest Bai Koroma in 2009 as having the capacity to overcome resistance in his own government to fight against the trade in narcotics.

This is revealed in diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks.

The website published two cables - one on a suspected attempt by officials accountable to Koroma to do a deal with drugs smugglers on trial, and the other reporting on the outcome of the subsequent trial.
