ECOWAS Commission Unveils New Presidential Lounge

Abuja — The President of the ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency James Victor Gbeho on Thursday, 20th October 2011 unveiled a Presidential Lounge, which will serve as a meeting room for Heads of State within the Commission's Headquarters Complex in Abuja.

The new structure, which is complete with facilities for conference and bilateral talks by regional leaders, was built during the renovation of the Headquarters building. As a complement to the Commission's much larger Conference Hall, the Presidential Lounge will be very handy for mini- and extra-ordinary summits of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government.

At the brief commissioning ceremony, President Gbeho was conducted round the facilities by Mr. Saghir Tariq, a representative of the construction firm. The President was accompanied on the inspection by the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Jean de Dieu Somda and some Commissioners - Dr. (Mrs) Ada Okwuosa (Administration and Finance), Mr. Ousseini Salifou, (Agriculture, Environment and Water Resources), Dr. Adrienne Diop (Human Resources and Gender), Prof. Lambert N'galadjo Bamba (Macro-economic Policy) - as well as other staff members of the Commission.
