ECOWAS Ordinary Session of Council of Ministers to Hold in Abidjan

Abuja_nigeria — The 68th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers takes in place in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire on 11th and 12th June 2012.

The session will, among other issues, consider the 2012 Interim Report of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Kadré Désire Ouédraogo, who assumed office on 1st March 2012, along with his new management team at the Commission.

Other members of management team - Vice President Toga Gayewea McIntosh and six Commissioners, who assumed duty in February 2012, will be formally sworn in at the Council session.

The Council will also consider a Memorandum on the Allocation of Statutory Positions to Member States and consider three ministerial reports the 11th Meeting of Ministers in charge of Telecommunications/ICT held in Yamoussoukro in October 2011, the 2nd Conference of ECOWAS Science and Technology Ministers also held in Yamoussoukro last March and the ministerial meeting on the ECOWAS Humanitarian Affairs Policy and Plan of Action held in Cotonou also in March 2012.

The Council session will feed into the 41st Ordinary Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government expected to take place at the end of June in Yamoussoukro.
