AfDB's Return to Abidjan in 2014 On Track

The return of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to its headquarters in Abidjan is on track, its President, Donald Kaberuka, said on May 21 during his presentation of the 2013 AfDB Annual Report in Kigali as part of the Bank's annual meetings.

According to Kaberuka, 2014 is a pivotal year for the AfDB. After 10 years' relocation to Tunis, the process of the Bank's return to its headquarters in Abidjan is on track, in line with the roadmap agreed in Marrakesh in 2013. Everything is being done in both Tunis and Abidjan to ensure an orderly return, which will have minimal impact on operations, he said.

Ensuring continuity of activities will receive all due attention, he added. With this in mind, Kaberuka paid tribute to the Ivorian and Tunisian authorities who are engaged fully in ensuring operation runs smoothly. He also commended the Bank's shareholders and partners for "their unwavering support.

"There is every reason to rejoice at the prospect of seeing the Bank Group record another year of successful realisation of its mission."
