African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina arrived on Tuesday, November 17 in Accra, Ghana, where he will share on November 18 the AfDB's perspective on agriculture and nutrition at a "High-Level Roundtable on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition".
The event is organized by Global Panel, an independent group of influential experts with a commitment to tackling global challenges in food and nutrition security. Adesina, a member of the Global Panel, will deliver a keynote address, as well as participate in group discussions.
The Accra meeting intends to engage with the national Government and a wide range of stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of how agriculture and food systems can work together to improve nutrition.
The Global Panel is an independent group of influential experts with a commitment to tackling global challenges in food and nutrition security. The gathering is hosted by the John A. Kufuor Foundation.
Later this week, the AfDB President will attend the Mo Ibrahim Foundation 2015 Governance Weekend, which takes place from November 20-22 in Accra, to discuss the development of African cities around the theme "African Urban Dynamics".
Upon arrival in Accra, Adesina met with the Ghana's Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Seth Terkper, to discuss ways of strengthening AfDB-Ghana cooperation.
