Dr. Alberic Kacou Appointed As Vice-President, Human Resources and Corporate Services of the African Development Bank Group

The African Development Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alberic Kacou, as the Vice-President Human Resources and Corporate Services, effective 15 May, 2016.

Dr. Kacou, a citizen of Côte d'Ivoire, is a seasoned administrator with over 25 years of international experience within the United Nations System, where he has distinguished himself as a well-respected leader and manager of people, processes, systems and resources.

He is currently the Chief of Staff and Director of the Executive Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in New York. In this role he provides managerial support to the UNDP Administrator in the management of UNDP globally and within the United Nations Development Group. He has played significant roles in supporting the UNDP in the drive for structural reform and organizational change for a leaner and nimble organization to respond to the rapidly changing development landscape. He served as a member of the High-level group of the United Nations Secretary General tasked with the UN system-wide reforms to ensure sustainable development effectiveness.

Dr. Kacou graduated with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, USA in 1987. He also earned a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

He brings extensive senior leadership experience in Africa. He has served as the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in four African countries (Nigeria, Tanzania, Senegal and Guinea Bissau). He worked previously as Deputy Executive Secretary and Director of Operations of the United Nations Capital Development Fund, with large managerial responsibility and involvement in inter-institutional negotiations around the world.

Dr. Kacou combines experience in managing large international and country personnel, resources and systems in complex multicultural and multinational organizations, as well as a sound grounding in programs and development. He brings wide experience in developing and implementing institutional reforms for organizational coherence and effectiveness.

The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, said of the appointment, "I am delighted that Dr. Alberic Kacou will be joining the senior leadership team of the Bank as Vice President for Human Resources and Corporate Services. He brings extensive and deep knowledge of managing people and resources for institutional effectiveness, globally and within Africa. His ability to drive institutional reforms and organizational change will be critical in the implementation of the Bank's organizational reforms to deliver greater developmental impacts and effectiveness."
