Applications are open in Benin for 2,500 young people who will be able to access reskilling programmes or apprenticeship placements in the agriculture and renewable energy sectors.

Supported by the African Development Bank and the Government of Benin, the Skills Development for Employment in Priority Sectors Project (PDCESP-I) aims to offer new prospects to young people seeking qualifications and integration into the labour market. Throughout June 2026, interested applicants can submit their applications on this dedicated platform.

A national campaign to inform and mobilize young people

With a total cost of CFAF 57.7 billion, the project combines investments in training infrastructure with direct support for youth employment. Its infrastructure component notably includes the construction of agricultural and vocational technical secondary schools in three municipalities.

The component implemented by the Agency for the Development of Technical Education and Vocational Training (ADET), will benefit 2,500 young people across the country, including 30% women. Of these, 1,500 unemployed graduates will undergo reskilling programmes, while 1,000 young people with little or no education will take part in company-based apprenticeship placements.

To ensure wide dissemination of this opportunity, the National Employment Agency (ANPE), in partnership with ADET, conducted a national awareness campaign from 1 to 5 June 2026 across the country's 77 municipalities. Organized in town halls with the support of local authorities and African Development Bank teams, the sessions provided young people with information on the available training programmes, eligibility criteria, and application procedures.

This initiative forms part of efforts by the Benin government and the African Development Bank to strengthen skills within the youth population and facilitate their access to employment. By supporting training and apprenticeships in high-potential sectors, the project will help young people prepare for the labour market and broaden their career prospects.

Interested applicants can submit their applications until 30 June 2026 on the SICA-ANPE platform
