AfDB to Strengthen Partnership With Lake Chad Basin Commission to Build Lasting Peace and Promote Sustainable Development

In the margins of the Summit on regional security held in Abuja on May 14, 2016, Bank Group President, Akinwumi Adesina met with Lake Chad Basin Commission representatives and reaffirmed the Bank's continued support to the Lake Chad Member Countries and the Commission in alignment with the High 5s Agenda, particularly the Feed Africa Program.

President Adesina observed that the African Development Bank Group would promote projects for the enhancement of resilience of production bases and ecosystems by working with countries to diversify their economies and provide countercyclical support to enable them address volatilities. He also said the institution would maintain fiscal sustainability, enhance fiscal transparency and governance, promote inclusive growth and support regional integration.

The summit on regional security was hosted by Nigeria's President, Buhari. President Adesina and his delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria's Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank, Kemi Adeosun.
