The two-day Infrastructure Africa 2016 forum kicked off Thursday, June 9, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This year, the African Development Bank is co-sponsoring the event in partnership with UK Aid. The forum has proved important over the years in addressing the continent's infrastructure investment opportunities.

Inclusive infrastructure is AfDB's call to encourage infrastructure investments that also pay attention to diverse groups, particularly women and girls, who utilise infrastructure in many parts of the continent.

The event brings together public and private sectors, as well as civil society representatives from across the continent.

A meeting of Ministers of Energy will also be held to discuss how to include gender into energy programs on the continent.
