Minister Amadou Ba Will Boldly Launch Three Key Publications of the ECA in Dakar

Dakar — Under the authority of the Senegalese Minister of the Economy, Finance and Planning, Mr Amadou Ba, and in the presence of the Director of the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP), Mrs Karima Bounemra Ben Soltane, a high-level meeting will be held at this Institute on 14 June 2016 on the dissemination of the country profile of Senegal, the 2016 Economic Report on Africa on the theme "Towards Green Industrialization in Africa" and the fourth edition of the 2016 African Governance Report entitled "Measuring Corruption in Africa: the International Dimension Matters".

In addition to high level officials from the Senegalese Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Planning, this workshop to disseminate three key publications of the ECA will be attended by officials from the Ministries of Industries and Mines, the Environment, Justice, Regional Integration, Structures in charge of the policy to promote good governance, the department of gender empowerment, the National Institute of Statistics, Universities, the Higher Institute of Statistics, media, United Nations Agencies, the African Development Bank, development partners, the African Union, regional economic communities, experts and students.

The objective of this meeting is to: (i) inform and raise the awareness of decision-makers, development partners and other stakeholders living in Senegal on the socio-economic profile of this country established by the ECA in 2015, the economic situation of Africa and the state of governance on the continent, (ii) discuss the outcome of the thematic analysis on the diversification of Senegal's exports, the industrialization of Africa through the green economy and measuring corruption, (iii) discuss recommendations on policies drawn from these three key publications of the ECA and examine conditions for their effective implementation, and finally (iv) formulate recommendations and guidelines to improve the next editions of these publications.

It should be noted that these three key publications of the ECA which the Senegalese government is proud to launch highly contribute to the structural transformation of African economies.
