The African Development Bank Group Appoints Dr. Ousmane Dore As Director General, Central Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office

The African Development Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ousmane Dore as Director General for Central Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office, with effect from December 1, 2016. The Central Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office is part of the new business approach of the Bank to accelerate its business and development impacts across Africa.

Dr. Ousmane Dore, a citizen of Guinea, brings more than 20 years of experience spanning development finance, government, and academia. In 2007, he served as Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning for the Government of Guinea. He brings senior level and practical experience in engaging at the highest levels of government across the region.

Dr. Dore joined the African Development Bank in 2011 as Resident Representative and later as Country Director of Nigeria. In this capacity, he grew and diversified the Bank's portfolio and played a key role in regional dialogues through his work with the Economic Community of West African States. He oversees a strong diverse portfolio of over US $4.5 billion.

Before joining the Bank, Dr. Dore worked with the International Monetary Fund as Senior Economist and later as Resident Representative in Senegal and Acting Mission Chief for Guinea-Bissau in 2006. In 2007, Dr. Dore was appointed Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning of Guinea. Dr. Dore drove reforms within the Ministry and the Central Bank to improve financial management, deliver efficiencies and reduce corruption.

Dr. Dore obtained a bachelor's degree in geological engineering from the Boke School of Mines and Geology, Guinea; a Master's degree in public administration from Harvard University, USA; a Master's degree in mineral economics from the University of Arizona, USA; and a PhD (1993) in economics with a specialisation in international macroeconomic development, monetary economics and public finances from the University of Minnesota, USA.

The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, said of the appointment: "Dr. Ousmane Dore is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in operations, financial and macro-economic management. He has led and effectively managed very large and complex Bank operations in Nigeria. As the Bank moves to the New Development and Business Delivery Model in Central Africa, Dr. Dore's solid experience, leadership and drive will be great assets for the Bank".
