The Bank to host International Colloquium to enhance participants' capacity to effectively prevent and manage employment disputes in international organizations
The Administrative Tribunal of the African Development Bank Group will celebrate its 20th anniversary on 28-29 June 2018 at the Headquarters of the Bank in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. International lawmakers are expected to attend an International Colloquium, hosted by the Bank, under the theme: "International administrative justice and International organizations: Overview and prospects".
The 20th anniversary of the Bank's administrative tribunal will highlight its contribution to solving staff related disputes and help them better understand the functioning of the Tribunal.
For Abdoulkader Dileita Mohamed, Executive Secretary and Head of the Administrative Tribunal of the African Development Bank Group "the expectations are high. The colloquium is intended to enhance the participants' capacity to effectively prevent and manage employment disputes in international organizations. With the jubilee, Bank staff will realize that Bank rules have been respected for the past two decades, thanks to our Administrative Tribunal. The meeting also aims to inform and educate staff about current Tribunal's procedures and answer possible recurring questions."
Representatives of most Tribunals of international organizations will be present in Abidjan, and participants will be updated about the best practices on issues related to staff disputes in international organizations. Five panel discussions are scheduled during the two-day meeting and will address Administrative Tribunal for the employees, consultants and short-term staff of the international organization; Comparative analysis of disciplinary sanctions by international administrative Tribunals; Alternative modes of dispute resolution in international organizations. Applicability of human rights in International Administrative Tribunals; Round table discussions on Best practices and jurisprudence of International Administrative Tribunal will be addressed.
