The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina and a delegation begin a four-day official visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), at the invitation of President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
During the visit, intended to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the Bank Group and the DRC, Adesina will meet with the Congolese Head of State and discuss development issues.
The strategic dialogue between the Bank and Congolese public and private institutions will also be at the heart of Adesina's very first official visit to the Central African country.
Adesina will hold talks with the country's Prime Minister, Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba, the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Vital Kamerhe, as well as with major stakeholders and Government officials (finance, budget, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, energy, transport, mining, environment and planning).
The Bank's President will also meet the local and international media in Kinshasa, prior to flying to Inga, 276 km southwest of Kinshasa, where the institution has contributed to building a mega-hydroelectric power station on the Congo River.
For decades, the DRC and the African Development Bank Group have enjoyed a stout partnership.
