The Ondo State Football Association has announced on Tuesday the appointment of Mr. Ibukun Adetoyinbo as the new secretary. Adetoyinbo will replace Alex Daodu.

This was in a statement by the media officer of the Association, Mr. Dayo Johnson, and made available to journalists in Akure. According to the statement, the president of the State Football Federation, Mr. Dele Ajayi, said that the State Sports Council had decided to appoint a secretary for this association, which the FA had accepted.

"You all know that the Ondo State Sports Council is still responsible for appointing FA secretaries. Since the bylaws give the board the right to appoint the secretary, I do not see any problem with that, and we are ready to work with anyone who presents the board, "the statement said.

Ajayi urged the new secretary, whom he described as an experienced personality, to make every effort to provide the best of his abilities as part of his new duties. Football fans who place sports betting also think it will deliver more than its predecessor.

"I know that Adetoyinbo has extensive experience in football administration, given the platforms he has previously served, including as vice-president of the South Akure Soccer Council. Therefore, I hope that you will benefit from your great experience in carrying out the tasks of your new assignment, "he said.

According to the NAN, Adetoyinbo had, before his appointment, served as secretary of the National Football Development Agency (OSFODA).

Similarly, the Ondo Football Federation (FA) has urged Dotun Owanikin, the new Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, to strengthen the Sunshine Stars National Football Club before the 2019/2020 season. Dele Ajayi, president of the FA, launched the appeal when members of the board of directors of the FA visited the commissioner Wednesday in Akure.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) announced that the visit was the first of a series of commissioners' meetings to meet sport stakeholders in the state. Besides, Ajayi urged the Commissioner to separate the budget of the association from the Ondo National Football Agency (ODSFA).

He implored the commissioner to help him beg the football agency to pay the membership fees to Sunshine Stars before the start of the new season. The FA President urged the Commissioner to correct the situation in which the AF representative on the ODSFA board must be a full-time member and not a part-time member.

Ajayi also asked the Commissioner to provide the FA with a means to effectively perform his duties. In response, Owanikin, a former footballer, announced that he would cooperate with the FA and promised to talk to the ODSFA authorities about his demands.

Mr. Owanikin, a member of the National Sports Institute, said he would restore the past of Sunshine Stars, hence the need for FA and ODSFA to work in harmony. The Commissioner promised to hold another meeting with all interested parties to try to develop all sports in the state.

Also, Mr. Dele Ajayi was elected President of the National Football Association of Ondo (FA). The FA State Congress, held in Akure in 2019, also saw Henry Akingboju emerge as vice president.

Ajayi defeated Aderemi Adetula by 20 votes to 2, while Dele Ologbese, third candidate, was absent from Congress. In his acceptance speech, Ajayi said he would do everything possible to bring football to this state to an enviable position. Locations for enviable slots are always available.

He added that the state would soon begin to attend activities in the grassroots league to develop football in that state. Ajayi also urged the injured members not to appear before the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja, but to address their complaints to Ondo FA's electoral appeals commission.

"I would like to thank the footballers of Ondo State, especially the elders led by my predecessor, Dele Ogungbemi, for their role in advancing football in the state of Ondo, as well as for making this happen. election a reality, "he said. Earlier, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, had urged all those affected to put their sword and promote football in the state.

Yusuf-Ogunleye said that, in a sporting spirit, all losers should join their efforts to advance football in that state. "How to advance football in this state, without arguing, should be a concern of all concerned," he said.

According to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN), the other elected council members are Samuel Patani, Babatunde Igbasan, Charles Ogunyannodi, and Isaac Olagunju. The others are Gabriel Aborowa, Lanre Falana, and Jimoh Umar.
