The African Development Bank Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jean Hubert BAYALA as the Acting Director for General Services and Procurement (CHGS), effective from 27th February 2020.

Bayala, a national of Burkina Faso, is a seasoned professional with over 28 years of management and leadershipexperience in information technology, information system security, information systems auditing. Bayala also has in-depth experience in business continuity planning & disaster recovery and operational risk, budgeting, and procurement, among others.

He currently heads the African Development Bank's Business Continuity Unit, a position he has held since 2010. The unit is critical to the Bank's resilience and aims to ensure uninterrupted operations and services of the Bank.

Bayala has led several key initiatives, including the development of the Bank's business continuity program. the establishment of the Bank's business continuity and datacenter facility in the regional office in South Africa; and the implementation of the Bank's biometric laissez-passer. In addition, Bayala advises the Vice President, Corporate Services and Human Resources, on information systems and technology matters.

Prior to his current role, Bayala worked at the World Bank Group - Washington, DC, as a Risk andBusiness Continuity Management Officer from May 2007 to December 2009, where he worked on security, risk, emergency management and business continuity matters.

Before joining the World Bank Group, Bayala had worked at the African Development Bank from June 1992 to April 2007 as Team Leader, Information System Security & Business Continuity Plan. He also served as Head of the Information Technology Maintenance Section from June 1992 to December 1997.

Bayala started his career at United Information Systems (UNISYS) corporation from 1990 to 1991 as a Technical & Sales Engineer in charge of Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

He holds a master's degree in Electronics Engineering (L'Institut national supérieur de l'enseignement technique, Côte d'Ivoire); a Bachelor's degree (Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire) and a Certificate in Leadership and Management Development (Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom).
