"Climate business is simply and profoundly good business," Vice President Kevin Kariuki says in an interview leading to the 2020 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank.

The head of the Power, Energy, Climate and Green Growth Complex says countries must stretch beyond climate policies and declarations towards climate action. Though countries face diversified challenges, compounded with the Covid-19 outbreak and limited national resources, Kariuki emphasizes the need for countries to treat climate mitigation as a national priority.

He says the African Development Bank remains dedicated to its role as a knowledge center, financial institution and capacity building lender to African nations. He further outlines the Bank's growing climate-smart portfolio.
