When: 9th - 12th May 2022

The African Development Bank will participate at the 2022 African Mining Indaba, in collaboration with the African Legal Support Facility. The theme of this year's conference is The Evolution of African Mining: Investing in the Energy Transition, ESG, and the Economies.

The participating departments of the African Development Bank include the African Natural Resources Centre, Industrial and Trade Development, Integrity and Anti-Corruption, Sanctions and Appeals Board, and the Southern Africa Regional Office. The African Development Bank, as a sponsor of the 2022 African Mining Indaba, will organize two events.

The Ministerial Networking Lounge: This VIP lounge will provide a meeting space for African mining ministers and development partners to discuss investments in their countries. This will afford the Bank Team opportunity to meet several Ministers and discuss project implementation among others.

Africa's Green Minerals in the Energy Transition: This side-event seeks to identify and analyze the success factors for Africa to move up the ladder and optimize the global battery and electric vehicle value chain. The African Development Bank's recent studies on battery minerals value chains will also be disseminated.

The African Development Bank's engagement at the Mining Indaba will focus on building climate resilience and just energy transition in the mining sector, promote the Bank's initiative to develop the African Green Minerals Strategy and assist African countries to attract new mining investments in the energy transition. The Bank delegation will also attend the pre-conference ministerial symposium, scheduled for Sunday 8 May 2022.
