The Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills of the government of Morocco and the African Development Bank will host a conference on 7-8 June 2022 titled The future of labor and the role of entrepreneurship and MSMEs. The conference will focus on Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco. It will take place in a hybrid format, with some participants physically present in Rabat, Morocco. The event will run on the regional platform 'eina4jobs' (Entrepreneurship, Innovations and Advice for Jobs), established by the African Development Bank with support from the Danish-Arab Partnership.
Participants, including experts and government ministers from Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia, will analyze structural changes in the North African labor market. The digital revolution and the Covid-19 pandemic have accelerated these changes.
The event will also feature a dialogue among policymakers, the private sector, and development partners to explore solutions - and operational innovations - that may advance job creation through entrepreneurship and MSMEs.
According to eina4jobs, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia could create more than 8 million jobs by 2030 to more effectively integrate youth into the labor market and reduce unemployment.
The conference is expected to conclude with the signing of a 'Political Manifesto' that sets out public policies to enable the three countries to create decent jobs in the short and medium term.
The German Agency for International Cooperation, the French Agency for Development, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Labor Organization, and the United Nations Development Programme co-organized the conference and contributed to the preparation of the Political Manifesto.
