Liberia: Govt Holds Meeting With Petroleum Importers to Discuss Their Appeal for Price Increment

Monrovia — The Petroleum Importers Association of Liberia is appealing to the government of Liberia to allow it to increase the price of petroleum products on the Liberian market; a letter from the Association said Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

The Association in a letter to the Minister of Commerce and Industry cited "significant increase" in the price of petroleum products on the world market as their reasons.

The group said the recent approved price of June 3, 2022 was not reflective of the current market price and was way below their cost.

"In view of the aforementioned we are kindly appealing to the government to see the need to consider price increment," the letter said.

The Petroleum Importers thanked the government for cooperation and smooth working relationship over the years.

At the same time, the group said is opened to further dialogue with the government to find a way forward.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mawine Diggs is yet to respond to their request.
