Bandits have demanded N150 million ransom for the wedding guests they kidnapped last weekend on the Sokoto-Gusau Highway.

Most of the victims, LEADERSHIP learnt are members of Zamfara GSM Union of Communication.

The bandits had abducted 50 of the wedding guests, who were returning from Sokoto when the Coaster bus they boarded developed a fault. While 20 of them escaped, the bandits took 30 others to their den.

The terrorists' request for ransom was contained an audio circulated yesterday on social media where one of the bandit leaders said the sum of N5 million was placed on each of the victims.

The Zamfara GSM operators were kidnapped along Sokoto-Gusau Road while returning from a wedding fatiha of their colleague.

The bandits' leader, after bargaining with one of the GSM Union of Communication, insisted that N5 million must be paid per each abducted person.

He said, "Go around and look for money either from the relatives of the victims or contact the state government in order to have the members released."

According to him, "failure to meet our demand is equal to sacrificing their lives."

Already, Governor Bello Matawalle has directed security agents to move to the forest to rescue the victims.
