Forty-nine people living with disabilities (PWDs) have been supported with equipment by the Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Assembly to improve their income-generating activities.

The items were five deep freezers, a fufu pounding machine and an industrial/knitting machine.

Also, another five have been assisted by the Assembly to receive training in poultry farming, leather works, auto mechanic and dressmaking while four received mony to further their education.

To make life better for the PWDs, the Assembly also distributed five wheelchairs, twenty crutches and 10 white canes to the PWDs and three were given money to improve their health.

In an interaction with the media after the presentation, Dr Isaac Dasmani, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Assembly said the items were to help the beneficiaries to become self-reliant.

He said in that way people living with disabilities would not beg on the streets to feed themselves.

He said the Assembly would continue to train PWDs to enable them to learn a trade to maintain themselves.
