Gambia: State Counsels Booed By Mob At Bob Keita's Trial

An angry crowd believed to be supporters of Bubacarr Keita, who is facing rape trial, yesterday booed State Counsel Kimbeng T. Tah together with A. Jobe as the duo attempted to enter their vehicle and leave the Bundung High Court premises. Some disgruntled supporters were seen throwing water and water bottles at the state counsels as they prepared to leave.

However, personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) who were in the court with a view to providing security were able to shield the duo from the mob's attack, while Tah and A. Jobe sat inside their vehicle.

Hundreds of people attended yesterday's court hearing at the Bundung High Court in the Kanifing Municipality. The court premise was full to capacity. Some of Bob Keita's supporters were also seen wearing T-Shirts with inscription #Free Bob Keita as others shouted 'Justice for Bob Keita. The rape case has drawn public attention within and outside the country.
