Ghana: Ashanti Regional Minister Inspects Development Projects in Asante Akim Municipality

2 August 2022

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has paid a working visit to Asante Akim Agogo in the Asante Akim Municipality to commission completed projects and inspect ongoing ones.

He commissioned an office block for the Municipal Health Directorate, which was funded by the District Development Facility of the Assembly.

The Minister also inspected ongoing work on the Electricity Company of Ghana sub-station at Agogo, which is expected to be completed in 18 months.

Mr Osei-Mensah also visited the Agogo Plantain and Onion Market where he attributed the abundance of the foodstuff to the government's effort in controlling the activities of the nomad herdsmen in the area.

He indicated that the increase in yield of plantain demanded the establishment of a plantain processing factory under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) in the area.

The minister also said there are plans to build a lorry terminal to facilitate the transportation of food commodities to and from the market.

Among the projects inspected was the Municipal Assembly's three-storey office complex, which is being funded by the District Assembly Common Fund.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of work in the district and assured the people of more projects.
