Mr Patrick Nimo, a chartered accountant with over 22 years past qualification experience in public sector management, audit and industrial capability development was adjudged the best Chief Director for the year 2021.
MrNimo who is the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance was adjudged the best from the Chief Directors from various ministries.
The ceremony held on Friday in Accra honoured outstanding Civil Service staff who performed creditably in 2021, among them were over 100 persons including staff and Chief Directors awarded for their hard work.
The celebration which was on the theme"Digitalisation in the civil service of Ghana: an agenda for improved productivity and service delivery" was focused on highlighting the collective strategies being pursued by the civil service to delivering technology for service improvement
In a welcome address, the Head of Civil Service, Nana KwasiAgyekumDwamena, congratulated the winner on the remarkable performance in the year under review and urged them not to relent, but to continue to be on track to ensure the growth and development of the service.
MrDwamena said although selected civil servants were awarded at the ceremony, he stressed that the entire workforce had collectively contributed significantly to the strides made by the service.
DrMahumuduBawumia, the Vice President who was the guest of honour said the civil service staff had been at the forefront in reshaping the economy and had also worked tirelessly to ensure the continuity and transformational agenda.

He said that as the civil service played its pivotal role of policy reformation, coordination and implementation, they were urged to build collaboration and synergy with all sectors of the economy and also develop strategies and tailor-made capacity-building programmes.
Dr Bawumia said digitisation programme which was the future basis of improving and enhancing civil service performance in the future should be strengthened and given much attention for accelerated performance.
Vice President Bawumia said the government was poised to pursue the digitalisation agenda as a vehicle to transform the economy.
Touching on the Ghana Card, he said over 16 million Ghanaians had unique identities to expose corruption and malfeasance in public business transformations.
He said with introduction of the Ghana Card, the case of ghost names on our public sector system would become a thing of the past, adding that the National Service Scheme with over 14,000 ghost workers saved the country over GH¢ 114 million annually, while that of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) with 27,000 ghost pensioners saved the country GH¢327 million.
