9 August 2022

A Dei-Dei area court in Abuja on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old cleaner, Peter Calistus, to eight months imprisonment for stealing four laptops, cash and a ring.

Calistus pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and theft and begged the court for leniency.

The Judge, Mr Sulyman Ola, gave the convict an option of N40,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Ohanatu Sandra, reported the matter at the Gwarinpa police station on August 3, that at about 2pm, the accused trespassed into her office and stole her laptop bag containing four laptops valued at N280,000, a ring valued at N80,000 and N300,000 cash.
