Nigeria: Man Who Raped Neighbour's 7-Year-Old Daughter Arraigned

9 August 2022

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 27-year-old man before an Ebute-Metta magistrates' court for defiling his neighbour's seven-year-old daughter.

The police said the accused took advantage of the absence of the girl's parents to engage her in unlawful sexual intercourse.

The prosecutor, ASP Paul, described the action of the accused as "animalistic" and that he was not fit to stay close to any girl child.

He said the accused initially denied the allegation until the girl testified before him and stated how it all happened.

The court did not take the plea of the accused and the Magistrate, Mrs O. M. Ajayi, ordered his remand the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, pending when the DPP's report will be ready.
