A three-member delegation from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication Alumni Association (IIMCAA) Ghana Chapter has called on the Indian High Commissioner in Accra, Mr Sugandh Rajaram, at his office to officially introduce the association to the commission and to collaborate in other areas.
The delegation comprised of Mr Gabriel Ahiabor, President of the Association; Mr Zakari Musah, General Secretary, and Miss Matilda Tettey, Assistant Treasurer.
Mr Rajaram called for stronger collaboration between IIMCAA and the Commission to champion the India-Ghana relationship.
The High Commissioner said the Association was important as it would help strengthen the long-standing relationship between India and Ghana.
He suggested that the Association should consider persons who have also benefited from other Indian programmes and scholarships, to have one bigger and vibrant association.
According to Mr Rajaram, the Commission would collaborate with the association on its activities to share ideas for the betterment of all.
He noted that many Ghanaian professionals across Ghana have benefited from capacity building in India.
Mr Rajaramsaid as part of its agenda, the Commission had planned to extend its programmes, activities, and support across other regions of the country for others outside Ghana's capital, Accra, to benefit from the Indian Government's support.
He expressed his gratitude to the Association for the visit and assured the members of the Commission's support.
The delegation thanked the Indian Government for the various training programmes being offered to Ghanaians.
They assured the High Commissioner that measures were being put in place to ensure that the purpose of the Association, which was to bring old students of IIMC together to promote Ghana-India relations, was achieved.
The delegation informed the High Commissioner that the Association was planning to organise a workshop and training for members and non-members.
The delegation said it intended to invite experts from IIMC mother Alumni Association in India with the assistance of the Commission.
