IMANI Africa has encouraged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to fight against corruption in the country in its short life as an anti-graft office.

It noted that it was at least excited for the first time in the short life of OSP that real action had been taken with the hope that it would be sustained in spite of any resistance.

"We believe the OSP will persist in the fight against corruption and hopeful it will not be a nine-day wonder and we want to believe the office will maintain the momentum because there is a lot of work for them to do," IMANI pointed out.

This comes after Labianca Company Limited threatened to take legal action against the OSP issued an influence-peddling report against it because it has not been involved in any corruption-related activities and has always acted in accordance with due processes when applying for customs advance rulings.

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, said although corruption fights back, he was hopeful the OSP would not be deterred by the resistance, saying "I am very happy at least, for the first time in the short life of the Office of the Special Prosecutor we are seeing some real action and that is what we were hoping for, which we hope will continue".

He indicated that everybody had the right to legal redress, whatever was happening in the fight back was expected, already the kinds of challenges the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng was facing were to be expected and insisted that he had the wherewithal and legal skill and knowledge in the fight against corruption.

"I hope he gets the needed resources to continue this fight since it is not one of those issues that you hit and you go, so I am very hopeful and whatever we need to support and assist him we will," Mr Bentil assured.
