Nigeria: DSS, EFCC, Navy, Others Face Off in National Shooting Tourney

Over 100 athletes across the country yesterday engaged one another as the third edition of the Major Ojo National Shooting Championship began.

The President of the Shooting Sports Federation of Nigeria, Navy Captain Olatunji Bamidele Ayoade while speaking with journalists said the tournament was organised to immortalise Major Ojo who during his tenure as national coach for shooting brought up a lot of athletes that saw Nigeria to the Commonwealth Games and many other international competitions.

"This is the third late Major Ojo National Championship. During his tenure, he brought up a lot of athletes that saw Nigeria to the Commonwealth Games and many other international competitions.

"We have over 100 athletes from different states in the country. We have 8 agencies that are also here. We have the Nigerian Navy, the Department of State Service, EFCC, the Correctional Service and others, they are all doing well," he said.

Ayoade further said the tournament was going to be used to prepare the athletes for upcoming competitions.

"As we are preparing for the World Championship, we are using this championship to select the athletes that will participate in the Olympics and other competitions.

Speaking with one of the athletes, Fatima Emmanuel representing Team EFCC, who said she aims to make the team that will represent Nigeria in Egypt.
