Africa: UN Recognises Angola´s Leadership in Peace Processes in Africa

Luanda — The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, expressed his recognition for the leadership and commitment of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, regarding promotion of peace and security in Africa.

In a statement, António Guterres highlighted the João Lourenço´s commitment to dialogue and harmony in the Central and Great Lakes regions.

In the letter, the UN secretary-general said the organisation is open to supporting the Angolan President´s efforts and to work closely with him.

In the document, which aims to congratulate the Angolan Head of State on his investiture as President of the Republic, the UN leader also expressed his willingness to work with the Angolan government and people.

This is a joint work focused on the implementation of Angola´s priorities and desires in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.

Through his message, António Guterres reiterates his high regard for the long-standing partnership between the United Nations and the Republic of Angola and pledges his commitment for the continuing of the strengthening.
