Kpone — The unveiling of over thousand car batteries into the Ghanaian market was yesterday witnessed at the Agility Logistics Park, Tema.

The car batteries, manufactured in Kenya, were the first to be exported to the Ghanaian market, and it's aimed at creating jobs and keeping wealth in the African continents.

Unveiling the car batteries included some representatives of the Kenya Associated Battery Manufacturing (ABM) EA Ltd and the Kenya High Commissioner in Accra, Mr Eliphas Mugendi Barine.

In a brief presentation, Mr Barine said it was time for all countries in the African continent to support and consume locally manufactured goods in their respective countries.

"I am excited we are gradually coming into the realisation of Africa's dream to do more for ourselves in terms of trading, if this is promoted within the continents, it would create more jobs and wealth for the youth," he said.

He explained that Africa was endowed with resources and wealth and there was a need for individuals to rethink and invest their monies in trading to support the aspirations of the continents.

"I believe in the 'Ghana beyond Aid' initiative, we can do better than where we are currently, looking at all the other economies around us, their source of wealth has been from the natural resources of the African continent," he stated.

Mr Barine further appealed to all African continents and private sectors to rethink their decisions on tradingwithin the continent, and come together to work and encourage each other.

"This would also draw the continent closer to partner and invest as well as tighten the trust and bond amongst themselves, and by so doing African continentwould change in the next five to 10 years," he said.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Yesudem Company Ltd Ghana (Ghana Importer), Mrs Gifty Fianu, reiterated thatthere was the need for Africans to patronise its products when it floods the markets.

"The batteries are with warrants, they are affordable and quality and fits within everyone's budget, one can get some at Abossey Okai, Yesudem Company limited," she said.

Mrs Fianu said citizens had to change their minds from the thoughts of African products not being quality, saying, "if we make them well and take them seriously like other products, there would be improvements in our trading".

She encouraged the general public to get involved in the push for African trading within continents as the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) secretariat has made trading so easy for everyone.
