Rwandan politician Christophe Bazivamo will be concluding his tenure at the East African Community (EAC) this month, where he has for the past six years worked as Deputy Secretary General.

Since 2016, Bazivamo, who is also the Vice Chairman of the ruling party RPF-Inkotanyi, has worked as Deputy Secretary General in charge of Productive and Social Sectors.

On Saturday, September 17, the Rwandan community in Arusha organised an event to bid him farewell, during which they appreciated him for his contribution to the regional bloc during his time there.

The event not only brought together Rwandans but also local residents of the city of Arusha, as well as officials from the Rwandan High Commission to Tanzania.

Here, they together conducted Umuganda at "SOKO KUU," a very busy market area located at the heart of Arusha city, which is in the northern part of Tanzania.

Speaking at the event, Maj. Gen. Charles Karamba, Rwanda's High Commissioner to Tanzania commended the accomplishments made under the leadership of Bazivamo in integrating the community and specifically uniting the Rwandan community in Arusha.

He emphasized that such good deeds should not cease after his departure.

On his part, Bazivamo appreciated the support rendered to him by his colleagues at the community level, noting the important role played by members of the Arusha/Moshi diaspora in making his tenure at the EAC a success.

He particularly recognized the good relationship shared at different levels and committed to maintain it as such.

Before joining the EAC Secretariat, Bazivamo served as a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
