The 1981 Law School setters have congratulated one of their own, Dr Mike Ozekhome (SAN) on the conferment of the prestigious award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) on him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

On behalf of the class at pre-award cocktail/dinner at BREW23, Asokoro-Abuja, yesterday, a prominent member of the class and a Federal Commissioner in Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Sir Dan-Abia Bassey, extolled the sterling qualities of Ozekhome whom he described as the class leader. He also commended President Buhari for honouring Dr Ozekhome despite the fact that he's a well-known critic of his government.

In his words, "This award has shown Mr President in a very positive light as a democrat and tolerant leader."

Dan-Abia recalled that last year Ozekhome was honoured with a Doctorate Degree of LLD by the Afe Babalola University and was also the 10th Convocation Lecturer as the learned senior advocate turns 65 this year.

Another member of the class present at event, Chief Ifeanyi Iboko, concurred and said he believed this award is an honour not only for Ozekhome but to the entire class of 1981. Other guests made of professionals of diverse callings all poured encomium on Ozekhome and described him as the senior advocate of the masses in the mould of late Gani Fawehnmi.
