Messaging via the popular instant communication application owned by Meta, WhatsApp, has been restored.

Earlier, millions of WhatsApp users globally were unable to send and receive messages.

The outage, which lasted two hours affected both personal chats as well as group chats.

Downdetector, which tracks outages across major internet platforms around the world, confirmed that WhatsApp was not working for millions of users.

Before the glitch was fixed, WhatsApp assured its users that the problem was being fixed.

"We're aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible," a spokesperson for the company said.

The application was down as users were unable to send or receive messages. The problem had been reported from multiple countries including Pakistan.

The users complained that messages, photos, videos and other files were not being sent either in the inbox or in the groups.

Apart from this, the users who were using the desktop version of WhatsApp were also facing problems in connecting the app to the phone.

WhatsApp Beta Info had also confirmed the issue and said that users are facing problems in WhatsApp.
