Nigeria: Davido Silent As Rumour of Son's Death Spreads On Social Media

1 November 2022

Nigerian popstar Davido is currently trending in the Nigerian digital space and it is due to the speculation that the singer and his fiancee, Chioma Rowland, have lost their son, Ifeanyi.

The news emanated from popular Nigerian actress and close friend of the singer, Eniola Badmus, in a now-deleted tweet.

However, Davido or anyone from his camp had yet to react to the development hours after the rumour of Ifeanyi's death spread on social media.

When Daily Trust put a call across to the singer's manager, Asa Asika, his phone number was not reachable.

According to unconfirmed reports, the three-year-old boy drowned in a pool at his father's house in Banana Island on Monday.

It was learnt that quite a number of people at Davido's house when the incident happened had been arrested.

The inconsolable singer was said to have been moved from the hospital his 'late' son was rushed to and taken to his father's house.

However, Nigerians have taken to their various social media accounts to pray for the family while wishing that the news is not true.

British rapper and singer, Stephanie Victoria Allen, better known by her stage name Stefflon Don, took to her verified Twitter account to pray for the singer. She tweeted, "Prayers for Davido and Chioma."

Prayers up for Chioma and Davido 🙏🏾❤️

However, some tweeps are saying the three-year-old is alive.

The Twitter user Gbosewo Of Lagos via his handle @gbosewo407 stated that the young lad is fine as he has spoken with Davido. He wrote, "But people sha, always fast to spread bad news I just spoke with @davido now and he confirmed Infeayi is very fine now and still receiving treatments."(sic)
