14 November 2022

Sulayman Saho, National Assembly Member for Central Badibu Constituency has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to order the arrest of presidential adviser, Henry Gomez for defaming the character of Ousainou Darboe, standard bearer of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

"A conscious adviser should be aware of statements they utter and strive towards uniting and developing the nation rather than inciting violence," he said.

He said Henry Gomez accused Ousainou Darboe for being responsible for the country's mess up. "This is unfounded and untrue. I therefore, condemn the accusation," he said.

He stressed that officials like Henry Gomez, should quit personal attack on people and focus on developing the nation.

He added that demonstration is a constitutional right for every citizen. "People should stop associating every anti-government group to be UDP," he said.

The NAM said Darboe is a leader of a conscious group who believe in democratic values and have respect for human beings.

"I think as an adviser to the president, your role is to unify the nation and promote dialogue than making gesticulations. It is enshrined in the Constitution for people to demonstrate peacefully protect without arms," he added.

He also called on the president to dismiss Mr Gomez and flagged that the National Assembly would never be abused by politicians.
