The party is confident its delegates will elect a formidable team to lead the party to win the 2024 polls to become the credible alternative to steer the affairs of the nation in 2025.

The women and youth organiser elections will be held at the University of Cape Coast today, whereas the national congress is slated for the Accra Sports Stadium on December 17, 2022.In all, there are 81 aspirants with a total of 14 positions being contested with some of the elections expected to be tough includingthe Youth Organiser slot where incumbent George Opare Addo will come up against Brogya Genfi while Dr Hanna Bissiw will face a challenger in Margaret Ansei for the Women's Organiser portfolio.

The current National Youth Organiser of the party, George Opare Addo, is expected to face stiff competition from Brogya Genfi in the National Youth Organiser race. Some members of the party have criticised the current youth leadership for being too passive and claim they had failed to rally the youth of the country to demonstrate against their dislike for some of the policies, programmes and social interventions of the current government and also open up intellectual debates on campuses.

The position of Deputy National Youth Organiser has 10 contestants including Osman Ayariga, Dela Seddoh, Nudokpo Honu, Sulemana Karim, Mohammed Gombilla, Kabiru Ahmed, Eric Dadson, Owusu Asare, Obed Opitan and Jude Sekley.

A total of 1,375 delegates from all the 275 constituencies across the country are expected to cast their votes which includes the national youth organiser and two deputies, Members of Parliament (MPs), regional women's organisers and their deputies, accredited Tertiary Institutions Educational Networks (TEIN) Women Commissioner and youth representatives.

The Central Regional Police Command has assured the leadership of the NDC, aspirants and delegates of adequate security to ensure peaceful and successful congress and the Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission (EC) has also expressed its readiness and preparedness to conduct and supervise the elections in a fair, firm, credible and transparent manner.

According to Alex Segbefia, the Deputy Coordinator of the Planning Committee of NDC, said the party was a credible alternative to steer affairs of the nation in 2025after searching for a credible, resolute, focus and resilient team to be in place to take the NDC to victory in 2024 and not win the elections by default but a credible alternative.

"We want a team that is now going to be in place to take us to victory in 2024, and we do not underestimate our opponents in any way because much as people say, we do not want to win the elections by default, we want people to know that we are a credible alternative and they should look at us as a credible alternative, looking at our policies, programmes and social interventions, and the way in which we intend to form government," Mr Segbefia assured.
