Ghana: Ashanti Police Pursue 2 Suspected Robbers ... for Shooting 2 Persons, Killing 1

Kumasi — Ashanti Regional Police Command is in pursuing two suspected robbers who shot two persons at Brofoyedru, near Santasi, in the region on Thursday, one of whom died later.

The suspects were said to have attacked a household and shot the two persons after one of them was said to have attempted to struggle with.

According to the Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Command, Assistant Superin-tendent of Police (ASP) Godwin Ahyiano, "the victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention but one of them unfortu-nately passed on while the other is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition".

He would not give the names of the vic-tims for security reasons.

The police, he said, were pursuing the gang, stressing, "the police have deepened security in the area and intelligence opera-tions are ongoing to get the perpetrators arrested".

There have been series of armed robbery cases recently in the Kumasi metropolis and beyond.

For instance, on April 16, this year, armed robbers attacked a church at Afrancho, injuring many of the church members following indiscrimi-nate shooting.

In September, a phone dealer was shot dead at Ohwim and in the same month, armed robbers attacked a businessman, snatched his GH¢50, 000 in a broad day light at the Asafo market.
